The Packers officially announced the signing of defensive end Julius Peppers this afternoon. Although the Packers didnít make Peppers available to speak with the media, the newly signed defender was quoted on the Packers website. What follows are some of Peppersí comments.

On how much he can contribute at age 34: ďI have a lot left in the tank. I have a lot left to give, a lot left to offer. I want to show people I can still play the game at a high level.

ďExpectations are not for me; stats donít necessarily have a lot of value in my book. You can have a great season without having great stats. My goal is to play football at a high level. Iím a pass rusher, so thatís going to be a big part of what I can do. Play hard and have an impact in every game.Ē

On getting to play with quarterback Aaron Rodgers: ďThe teams that have the good quarterbacks are the teams that win. That obviously factored into some of my decision making. Iím looking forward to playing with Aaron. As much as I disliked chasing him around, Iím excited to join him.Ē

On how he will be used on the Packers defense: ďIím going to let Coach McCarthy deal with questions about the position and the scheme. Iím not really sure. We havenít talked in detail about what the plan is going to be for me, but I can say itís going to be something different.Ē

On the Packers defense in general: ď(Defensive coordinator Dom Capers) likes to be versatile and do different things. Thatís something Iíve wanted to do my whole career.

ďThis team last year had a great offense, even when Aaron went down. The defense Ė I donít know what they were missing. I definitely feel I can help them get to an elite level. Everythingís a perfect fit."
