Mike McGlynn, the center-guard the Packers brought in this week for a free-agent visit, signed with Washington today.

No details of the deal were available.

The Packers were looking at McGlynn as a backup interior lineman and perhaps a fallback or at least competition for JC Tretter, the second-year pro who is the front-runner to replace departed free agent Evan Dietrich-Smith as their starting center.

McGlynn, 29, started 48 games over the last four seasons for Philadelphia, Cincinnati and Indianapolis. Last season for the Colts he started 11 games at right guard and three at center.

The Packersí top backup on the interior of the line is Don Barclay, who also is a right tackle.
