Looking forward to warm days by the water

As spring is approaching, I wandered down to the dock. The sunsets have always been beautiful down there, and I can't wait for warm weather to talk on the breakwater. (I suspect it will be a long wait.)

Water has always drawn me to it. When I was in college, we would have been in the gym practicing rowing and getting our muscles in shape for rowing eight-man (woman) shells up in Duluth Harbor. Those early-season rows in the harbor were pretty cold.

Final Four

For the 12th year in a row, The Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay is hosting a fundraiser during the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship on Monday. This year the event will be held at Door County Fire Company (formerly the Ladder House) in Sturgeon Bay. This is the second year that the event will support academic scholarships for worthy graduating students from Door County's five high schools.

The Door County Fire Company will provide hors d'oeuvres and plenty of screens to watch the final game of the NCAA Championship. Tickets to the event cost $20 and include an opportunity to win a grand prize of $500 in cash.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased from any Sturgeon Bay Noon Rotary member or at the Door County Community Foundation office at 342 Louisiana St. in Sturgeon Bay. The event begins at 7:30 p.m.; raffle winners need not be present to win prizes.
