California-based AECOM will close its Sheboygan office this fall, impacting about 50 employees there.
Spokesman Ed Mayer said those employees will be given the option of transferring to other offices in Wisconsin.
The company provides technical and management consulting services.
Mayer did not indicate why the decision was made to close the company's local office at 4135 Technology Parkway.
The office is a descendant of a local engineering firm that traces its beginnings to 1910, when Jerry Donohue formed Jerry Donohue Engineering Co. in Sheboygan.
The company went through a myriad of mergers, acquisitions and name changes during the ensuing decades before becoming an AECOM affiliate.
Several employees left the firm in the late 1990s when it was called Earth Tech and opened Donohue & Associates, using the old company name. That company, headquartered in Sheboygan, still operates today and has locations throughout the Midwest.
AECOM has locations worldwide, including in Green Bay, Middleton, Milwaukee, Oshkosh, Stevens Point and Marquette, Mich.
