The Green Bay Packers reportedly arenít the only team interested in Matt Flynn.

According to the New York Daily Newsí Ralph Vacchiano, the Giants have reached out to the 28-year-old quarterback in the wake of Eli Manning having ankle surgery that may sideline him for spring workouts.

A workout has yet to be scheduled, but Vacchianoís report is the first this offseason linking Flynn to an NFL team other than the Packers.

The Giants have two other quarterbacks on the roster, 2013 fourth-round pick Ryan Nassib and Curtis Painter, but would like to have three options for the offseason program. Vacchiano's report indicates the Giants also have shown interest in former Tampa Bay and Minnesota quarterback Josh Freeman.

Flynn has some connection to the Giants. Their new offensive coordinator, Ben McAdoo, was on the Packersí coaching staff during Flynnís first stint in Green Bay from 2008 to 2011 and was his position coach last season after he re-signed with the Packers in November.

There was some concern about Flynn's arm strength after he was released earlier last season by both Oakland and Buffalo, but Flynn helped save the Packersí season when Aaron Rodgers was lost for two months with a broken collarbone.

The former seventh-round pick was 2-2 in four starts with 1,146 passing yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy has said the team would like Flynn back for 2014, but general manager Ted Thompson has yet to put anything on paper.

The Packers also are high on 26-year-old Scott Tolzien, who at the moment is the only other quarterback on the teamís offseason roster.
