The NFL will be able to flex games to Sunday night as early as Week 5 beginning this season, NFL.com reported today.

In the past only games beginning in Week 11 could be flexed, but in order to ensure better matchups on national television, the league will have the option to flex a total of two games between Weeks 5 and 10.

As in the past, any Sunday game from Week 11 on can be flexed.

Two Packers games -- against Atlanta and the New York Giants -- were flexed out of the Sunday night slot last season.

The announcement for flexing games can come no later than 12 days prior to the Sunday night game for Weeks 5-16.

In an effort to balance the television schedule, the NFL has also approved select games to be flexed between CBS and FOX. That will allow the league to move an all-NFC game to CBS and an all-AFC game to FOX. nd FOX.

The complete NFL schedule will be announced at 7 p.m. today.
