Packers backup QB Flynn will earn just under $1 million

The contract numbers are in for backup quarterback Matt Flynn, who signed a new deal earlier this week, and it appears the Packers bought themselves a fairly inexpensive insurance policy in case Aaron Rodgers gets hurt again.

According to reports by USA Today and ESPN.com, the Packers will give Flynn a one-year contract for $968,125.

That total includes a $75,000 signing bonus and $8,632 for each game Flynn is on the active roster.

All in all, thatís a pretty good bargain for what the Packers are getting in return: peace of mind and a quarterback who has proven he can lead the team to victories in the absence of Rodgers.

Flynn engineered three comebacks late in the 2013 season that enabled the Packers to stay in playoff contention:

*He replaced Scott Tolzien against Minnesota and rallied the Packers to a 26-26 overtime tie against Minnesota after they trailed 23-7.

*He rallied the Packers from a 21-10 halftime deficit to a 22-21 victory over Atlanta.

*He guided a monumental comeback in Dallas, when the Packers trailed the Cowboys 26-3 at halftime but came back to win 37-36.
