THE LAST TIME ...
... the Packers had the 21st pick in the draft, they selected wide receiver Barry Smith out of Florida State. It wasnít one of general manager and coach Dan Devineís better personnel decisions. Smith lasted just three seasons with the Packers and started a total of 20 games. He finished his Packers career with 41 receptions for 604 yards and four touchdowns. Smith never finished higher than fifth on the team in receiving. He spent one season with the expansion Tampa Bay Buccaneers and caught four passes for 88 yards.
HITS & MISSES
Some notable Packers draft misses:
■ With the No. 6 overall pick in 1981, they chose QB Rich Campbell, who was a colossal bust. Future Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback Ronnie Lott was taken two picks later by the 49ers.
■ In the third round in 1979, they selected defensive tackle Charles Jordan, who lasted just three seasons with the Packers. The 49ers drafted future Hall of Fame QB Joe Montana 11 picks later.
■ With the No. 5 overall pick in 1992, they chose CB Terrell Buckley, who lasted just three years in Green Bay. Two picks later, the Dolphins picked CB Troy Vincent, who earned five Pro Bowl berths.
