ALEESHA HELGESON

Parents: David and Sandi Helgeson

High School: Granton High School

Freshman Year: Volleyball (letter), basketball (letter), track and field (letter)

Sophomore Year: Volleyball (letter), basketball (letter, captain)

Junior Year: Volleyball (letter), basketball (letter, captain), softball (letter)

Senior Year: Basketball (letter, captain)

Academic honors: High Honor Roll or Honor Roll each quarter/semester.

Volunteer work: Past Granton Fall Festival court member, work with American Red Cross, Relay for Life, M.S. Society, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Highground Memorial, The Salvation Army and Shirley’s House of Hope.

Favorite sports memory: My last home basketball game with my fellow seniors. We may have gotten beat, but it was the best game that I have ever played, because I had to make my school, family and team proud of me one last time.

Advice to an athlete: Enjoy sports and give it as much as you can, because your high school career will eventually end. Also every time you walk out on that court, thank everyone that has helped you get there, because it’s not just about yourself, but your team as well.

Inspiration: My family — by blood and by team. Both have always been there for me and it’s amazing when I look up, I can see it on their faces that they love the game and are into it just as much as I am.

College plans: UW-Green Bay for psychology, minor in engineering.
