Tourism spending in Oconto County up 7.6 %

Growth in Oconto Co. outpaces most other areas of state

Growth in tourism spending in Oconto County improved more in 2013 than in most other Wisconsin counties, according to the annual estimate released by the Department of Tourism on Friday.

Direct visitor spending was up 7.62 percent over 2012, to $77.38 million. That's the fourth-highest increase in the state.

Total business sales were up 7.03 percent, the second highest increase in the state. At $107 million, it shows how much money from travelers recirculates in Wisconsin, and reflects spending by tourism businesses for supplies and services, as well as the impact of wages paid to ...
