Local auto racing: PDTR opens season

A week late, but opening night of Plymouth Dirt Track Racing arrived at the expanded racetrack at Sheboygan County Fair Park Saturday evening.

The track which was lengthened and widened for the start of the season featured fast racing, but a large rut that developed in Turn 3 resulted in the final two races of the night being cancelled for safety reasons.

In the Sprint car division, veteran driver Scotty Neitzel took full advantage of his pole-position start to capture the checkered flag. Behind Neitzel the racing was two and three wide with drivers looking to move through the field. ...
