Two local athletic clubs are poised to merge in a process that organizers hope will result in the creation of a new soccer academy in Sheboygan.

The Sheboygan Area Youth Soccer Organization and the Sheboygan County United Soccer Club are combining to create the Lakeshore United FC, according to a news release announcing the merger on the new organization's website.
