Wausau police officers closed off this section of North Fifth Avenue between Elm and Maple streets Sunday evening after a vehicle drove off the street and onto a lawn at some people. The incident occurred after a possible conflict over money, police said.

A Stevens Point man has been charged with two counts of battery and one count each of disorderly conduct and recklessly endangering safety after he was accused of driving a vehicle onto a lawn and toward some people during a Sunday disturbance.

William J. Somers, 34, of Stevens Point was arrestedSunday night and taken into custody in Portage County, said Wausau Police Capt. Greg Hagenbucher. Authorities were making arrangements Monday to transport Somers to the Marathon County Jail, Hagenbucher said.
