The Packers signed another draft pick today, seventh-round receiver Jeff Janis, according to the NFL transaction wire.

They also cut cornerback James Nixon because of a failed physical. Nixon spent parts of last season on their practice and 53-man roster before surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee ended his season. He was believed to be one of the two fastest players on the team, along with starting cornerback Sam Shields.

Janis is the second draft pick the Packers signed today. The other was fifth-round receiver Jared Abbrederis.

Janis’ four-year contract is worth $2,302,751 and includes a signing bonus of $51,392. Because of an agreement between the NFL and its players union, signing bonuses for draft picks are the same this year as for the player selected in the same slot in the same round last year.

Janis’ contract also includes minimum base salaries of $420,000 this year; $510,000 in in 2015; $600,000 in ’16; and $690,000 in ’17.
