Packers give talented but troubled TE Lyerla chance to redeem himself

Talented tight end Colt Lyerla wants to move on from his troubled past, and the Green Bay Packers are willing to give him a chance to do that.

The Packers signed Lyerla, who was arrested for cocaine possession last fall and quit the University of Oregon football team, to their 90-man roster Monday after a successful tryout at their rookie orientation camp over the weekend.

"He is a first-round talent, and he will be a great young man in Green Bay," Lyerla's agent Vinnie Porter told Press-Gazette Media. "He has turned the corner and will make this situation a great one." ...
