The phone calls and texts started to pour into Jayrone Elliott's cellphone shortly after word spread he'd signed with the Green Bay Packers as a college free agent.

The former Toledo defensive end thought maybe things would cool down after he arrived in Green Bay two weeks ago, but they only escalated.

"People back at home calling to say, 'Tell Aaron Rodgers to sign this or Clay Matthews take this picture,' " said Elliott, laughing. "I tell them, 'I can't be in fan mode. I'm a player trying to learn the playbook, so I can stay around.' " ...
