Brian Cychosz, president of Sentry Toastmasters, opened a recent meeting in which the application for membership of Jack Firkus was unanimously accepted along with the nomination and election of officers for 2014-15. The evening meeting provided a glimpse of what Toastmasters' vision is all about: Toastmasters International empowers people to achieve their full potential and realize their dreams. Through our member clubs, people throughout the world can improve their communication and leadership skills, and find the courage to change.

Newest member Jack Firkus delivered his Ice Breaker speech, "Jack-Built Homes," regarding building homes. We then moved into building lives with Joni Lodzinski's greenhouse experience, "What are you growing here?" which was her final presentation for her Advanced Communicator-Bronze designation (20 speeches). Building leaders was demonstrated through recognition of Deborah Ginsburg's Advanced Communicator-Bronze and Advanced Leader-Bronze accomplishments and her acceptance speech of the awards. Matt Meis reminded us about the value of relationship with his speech, titled "Love." Sreejith Krishnan described his incredible journey with his speech, "3000 in 8," and Kyle Zdroik informed about the psychological value of relaxation with his researched speech, titled "Fish."

Toastmaster and Table Topics roles for the meeting were filled by Terri Ballenger. General Evaluator Debbie Carcy evaluated the meeting as a whole with her team of evaluators: Dick Hawley, Ginsburg, Cychosz and Lodzinski. Linda Hammerschmidt filled the Grammarian and Ah Counter roles and Helen Roman was the Timer.

Sentry Toastmasters meets the second Thursday of each month at 4:30 p.m. at the Sentry Home Office. Any questions regarding Toastmasters may be directed to Dick Hawley at 715-341-6488 or via email at dick21hawley@gmail.com.
