Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy's belief in the Green Bay Packers' support system was a primary factor in their decision to sign Colt Lyerla.

The Packers' general manager and coach, respectively, added Lyerla to their roster after his tryout at their rookie minicamp earlier this month despite his off-field problems that culminated last year in his quitting the Oregon football team in October and shortly thereafter being arrested for possession of cocaine.
