The remaining Green Bay metro Kmart will close this summer, opening up another piece of land for development by Packers.

The store at 1109 Lombardi Ave. will close in mid-July, according to owner Sears Holding Corp. A liquidation sale will begin Sunday. The store has about 80 mostly part-time, hourly employees.

The property is owned by the Packers. The team owns much of the land on the south side of Lombardi Avenue from Lambeau Field to U.S. 41, including everything between True and Marlee lanes and north of Brookwood Drive. U.S. Bank will be the only remaining business between True and Marlee ...
