Local churches offer free kids lunch

MERRILL - Two local churches will offer free lunches for children through the summer. The meals will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 11 to Aug. 28 at Stange's Park Picnic Shelter off Third Street.

Christ United Methodist Church will serve on Wednesdays, and Trinity Lutheran Church will serve on Thursdays. Lunches are offered for free with no questions asked. Adults also may eat and are encouraged to give whatever they can in the donation box.

Organizers hope more churches and organizations will become involved to cover more days of the week or possibly different sites. Those interested may contact Shiela Drury at 715-218-3459.

Trinity School to host brat fry, rummage

MERRILL - Trinity Preschool day care will hold its annual rummage sale from noon to 8 p.m. in the Trinity School cafeteria, at 611 W. Main St.

A brat fry, run by the Trinity student council, will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. outside the school. The brat fry will feature deliveries to local businesses. Call 715-536-7501 by 3 p.m. June 10 to schedule your delivery.

Plant exchange, rain barrel class set

MERRILL - Live Sustainable, Lincoln County will host its first plant exchange and sale from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at the Lincoln County Services Center.

People can bring "extra" perennials to exchange for new ones or just come by to find that special plant missing in your garden.

A rain barrel workshop will be offered as well. Come and learn the basics of rain barrel use and maintenance and build your own rain barrel.

This workshop has limited seating and pre-registration is required. Fee for the workshop is $25 for Live Sustainable members and $35 for nonmembers.

MERRILL - Looking for classes on downloading e-books to your smartphone or tablet, or using a computer? Come to a Coaching session at T.B. Scott Library, 106 W. First St.

E-book coaching is scheduled at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, and Computer Coaching is scheduled at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, and 10 a.m. Thursday, June 12.

Wood stove exchange program offered

GREEN BAY - Wisconsin Public Service Corporation is promoting a program to exchange older wood-burning appliances with cleaner, energy-efficient heating appliances.

The program offers rebates of $1,000 to $4,000 for qualifying appliance upgrades. Income qualified residents may be eligible to receive rebates of $3,000 to $10,000.

Eligibility criteria, as well as a list of participating retailers and instructions for applying are available on the website of the American Lung Association at www.lung.org., which is administering the program for WPS.
