Spending power grows in Fox Valley: Personal income outpaces cost of living for workers

Personal income has been growing in Green Bay along with its purchasing power, according to new government data comparing cost of living trends in the nation's metropolitan areas.

The per-capita personal income in Green Bay was $41,609 in 2012, but when adjusted for the cost of living those dollars actually feel more like $42,877, according to the most recent data from the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Economic Analysis.

That "feels-like" amount, called real personal income by the BEA, has also been growing since 2010 when the per-capita personal income felt like $41,504. ...
