The Dodge and Fond du Lac County Forage Councils will hold their annual Twilight Meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 18. This year's event will be hosted by Elsinger Farms LLC, located near Lomira. The family includes Jeff and Brenda Elsinger, and their children, Mike and Jenny, along with all their dedi-cated employees.

The farm is located at W1448 County Road AH, Lomira. Elsinger Farms LLC is a dairy and crop operation. Crops raised include corn, soybeans, wheat, alfalfa and peas. Their cropping focus is on minimum tillage.

This program is open to all interested producers and Forage Council members. Lunch and beverages will be provided. There is no charge to attend this event.

Glenn Nice, University of Wisconsin Pesticide Applicator Training (PAT) Program Manager, is this year's featured speaker, and will talk about "Understanding Pesticide Restrictions on Forage Crops." Nice will give attendees a better understanding of reading labels and correctly interpreting label information for different rotations, harvest and grazing intervals and mixed stands. Jason Beck, Dodge County Forage Council president, stresses the importance of understanding different kinds of intervals "to ensure the forage you harvest is safe to feed your cattle" Beck says, "A product labeled for alfalfa, does not mean it's labeled for a mixture of alfalfa and timothy."

Nice oversees the PAT Program, which trains in 17 Commercial and Private pesticide categories, providing program management and training material development. He has co-authored several manuals and trainings and previously, worked as an Extension Weed Science Professional at Purdue University for 10 years.

This event is jointly hosted by the Dodge County and Fond du Lac County Forage Councils and Midwest Forage Association in cooperation with the UW-Extension and area agribusinesses.
