Record effort at state gives Algoma third place at state

Algoma senior Shante Williams placed second in the Division 3 girls triple jump at the WIAA track and Field championships in La Crosse on June 7, earning eight points for the Wolves and helping them to an AHS-best third place finish.

Nearly eight hours of rain delays couldn't stop the thunder and lightning show of area athletes at the WIAA State Track & Field Meet in La Crosse Friday and Saturday.

Algoma seniors Kennedy Blahnik and Shante Williams accounted for 28 points and underclassmen Rachael Feuerstein, Whitney Ebert, Kayden Robertson, Kaitlyn Wahlers and Carly Baumann added 14 more to help the Wolves to the best finish ever by an AHS girls track team - third place of nearly 60 schools that scored in Division 3.
