Mike Daniels is looking for a lot more bite from a Packers defense that he thinks lacked a mean streak the last two seasons.
Last year Daniels became the Packersí best inside pass rusher, and entering his third NFL season this year, he says heís embracing a leadership role that includes fostering a meaner mindset from the defense as a whole.

ďA little meaner,Ē he said after Tuesdayís minicamp practice. ďA lot meaner. Actually, being mean for once, because quite frankly we havenít been. I think thatís been our biggest problem on defense. So Iím personally going to make that my job to really get the best out of everybody. I donít care if Iíve got to hit somebody before we get on the field. If thatís going to (tick) them off and they take it out on somebody on the other team, then so be it.Ē
Daniels suggested that the Packersí defense needs to be more punishing during plays and respond when blockers get chippy after plays.
ďA lot of times you look on tape the last couple of years, some of our guys get shoved in the back after plays,Ē Daniels said. ďIíve seen it happen to some defensive linemen. Now that Iím older and Iím a little more vocal, thatís unacceptable. Every game, one of our offensive guys gets knocked out (of the game), maybe two, so itís about time we returned the favor to other teams instead of just getting pushed around all the time. Itís just a little bit of a different attitude.Ē
