Wisconsin's new Historic Preservation Tax Credit program has approved $1.1 million for projects in Brown County, but none for the Hotel Northland, the project that led local legislators to propose the new program in the first place.

Wisconsin Economic Development Corp., which administers the program, recently put a moratorium on allocating credits because demand was 10 times greater than anticipated, its CEO Reed Hall said in a letter to the Joint Finance Committee.

The legislation's sponsors estimated the program would cost $4 million annually. As of June 23, WEDC issued nearly $36 ...
