Capers has no problem with Howard Green's weight

Howard Green, the Packers' new 350-plus pound defensive linemen, was reportedly cut by the New York Jets because he weighed too much. The Packers plucked Green off waivers last week and he played a big role in helping to stop the Jets' vaunted power running game on Sunday. Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers estimated Monday that Green played close to 35 snaps against the Jets. As far as Capers is concerned, Green's weight isn't an issue with the Packers. "We kind of like big guys," said Capers, who laughed out loud as he added: "I know this. A couple weeks ago when you looked at us from behind, those rear ends weren’t quite as wide as they were out there (Sunday). Those linebackers like those wide rear ends because they use up more blocks." Ryan Pickett has been out with an injury, but according to Capers, there still should be a role for Green when Pickett returns.   "You can’t ever have too many big guys," said Capers. "You can get short on big guys in a hurry, which we saw against the Vikings. We only had three guys to put out there. So obviously C.J. Wilson, who we like and think is going to be good, but C.J.’s 278 right now. Jarius Wynn is a different body type as opposed to B.J (Raji). "B.J.’s been playing very well for us. He’s just doubled up on his reps from last year. I think he played 60 some yesterday. Those other guys, Cullen played 34 or 35 (snaps) and Howard played 34, 35. You like to keep those big guys in that range if you could.  Because then they aren’t getting worn out. (When Pickett) comes back we’ll find a way to utilize all those guys, especially if we’re playing a team like yesterday that likes to make a commitment to run the football."
