Sports Illustrated gives Packers some love

The Packers received some mentions in this week’s issue of Sports Illustrated (on newsstands now): *Clay Matthews made Pete King’s midseason all-pro team at linebacker, the only Packer player to receive that distinction. King wrote: “Matthews means as much to the Pack’s D as QB Aaron Rodgers does to the offense. Even a strained hammy hasn’t slowed this second-year sack machine.” *In a mid-year forecast of this year’s playoff teams, SI picks the Packers to defeat the New York Jets in the Super Bowl. *In an SI poll this week of 245 NFL players, quarterback Aaron Rodgers and New England receiver Wes Welker were the top vote-getters (5%) when asked “Who is the most underrated player?” They were followed by Houston receiver Andre Johnson (3%), Baltimore running back Ray Rice (3%) and Houston quarterback Matt Schaub (2%).
