Clay Matthews has won his third award for NFC defensive player of the week. Matthews, the outside linebacker who leads the NFL in sacks (10 1/2), won the award today for his performance in the Packers' win over Dallas last week. In that game Matthews had two tackles for a loss, a sack, and an interception he returned 62 yards for a touchdown. Matthews had won the award in Week 2 and once last season. He also was NFC defensive player of the month for September. Among Packers, only cornerback Charles Woodson (four) has won NFC defensive player of the week more times. Former defensive end Reggie White won it three times.
