Clay Matthews earns spot on PFW all-pro team

Clay Matthews was selected to Pro Football Weekly's midseason all-pro team. The magazine said of the Packers' outside linebacker: "He is a great finisher who brings a constant motor to the field every day." The Steelers' James Harrison was the other outside linebacker selected to the team. *In Pro Football Weekly's midseason assessment of the Packers, the magazine seemed a bit harsh on quarterback Aaron Rodgers. "There is no excuse for the mistakes and inconsistency that have plagued Green Bay's offense," PFW wrote. "QB Aaron Rodgers has had way too many disturbing stretches in which he has appeared out of sync with a receiving corps that also has left a lot to be desired." Disturbing? Rodgers' passer rating is down from last year, but I would hardly call his performance disturbing. Rodgers ranks 8th in the NFL in passing yards per game (256); 10th in completion percentage (63.4); sixth in TD passes (15); 12th in passer rating (90.6); and 5th in completions over 20 yards (30). *Dolphins coach Tony Sparano had this to say today when asked how much newly signed cornerback Al Harris could contribute this week: “He’s had a good week of practice right now at least from a mental standpoint. There’s been some carryover; we’ll see here. I got a couple issues right now that I’m trying to sort out. We’ll see how it goes.” Harris was signed by the Dolphisn this week after getting cut by the Packers on Monday.
