Packers own best NFL record over past year

Almost exactly a year ago the Packers were 4-4 and coming off a disheartening loss to previously winless Tampa Bay. It was the low point of Mike McCarthy's tenure as head coach. Perhaps that loss in Tampa served as a wakeup call to the Packers, because since then, they have posted the best regular-season record in the NFL. Taking the second half of the 2009 season and the first half of the current season, the Packers have posted a league best 13-4 record. Half-season records don't mean much, and combining them over two different seasons is even less significant. So take these records for what they're worth, but it's still interesting to note that the Packers have had more regular-season success in the past year than any other team. Here is a rundown of NFL teams with double-digit victory totals since last year at this time: Packers 13-4 Chargers 12-5 Eagles 11-5 Colts 11-5 Jets 11-5 Titans 11-5 Ravens 11-5 Saints 11-6 Patriots 10-6 NFC North teams have the following records over that span: Vikings 8-8; Bears 8-8; Lions 3-13. The trick for the Packers will be to figure out how to not only keep up their excellent regular-season record over the past year, but transform it into post-season success.
