Favre key to Packers-Vikings outcome

There seems to be a great divergence of opinion regarding today's Packers-Vikings game. The Press-Gazette panel is split right down the middle, 2-2, on which team will win this game. Likewise, a six-man prediction panel from the Minneapolis Star-Tribune is split 3-3 on which team will win. Despite having a considerable homefield advantage inside the noisy Metrodome, the Vikings are 3-point underdogs. The big question is, will the 3-6 Vikings continue to play lackluster football, or will they rise up against their bitter border rivals and stave off playoff elimination? It's logical to assume the Vikings will have to run the table to make the playoffs, meaning they must win today or kiss this season good-bye. If there is one single key to this game, it's probably going to be the performance of Vikings quarterback Brett Favre. He cost the Vikings the game in the Packers' 28-24 victory last month over the Vikings with three interceptions. If Favre can stay turnover free today, I belive the Vikings have a good chance to prevail. The reason I picked the Vikings to win is because this is essentially their "Super Bowl." If Favre can beat the Packers and finish with a 3-1 career record against his old team, that will bring him tremendous satisfaction. But what do I know? My record predicting Packers' game this season is 4-5. So take it for what it's worth. Some additional food for thought: every member of the 10-person Pro Football Weekly prediction panel said the Packers would win. Perhaps they are underestimating the Vikings' fortitude, talent, and homefield edge. Then again, maybe they know something I don't.
