Friday practice report: Questions about Collins

Pro Bowl safety Nick Collins appeared to be extremely limited in the portion of practice opened to reporters, which could leave his status in question for Sunday's do-or-die game against the New York Giants. Collins injured his ribs in last Sunday's game at New England and couldn't finish the game.  Collins has been remarkably durable -- he hasn't mised a game since 2007 and in his career has played in 91 of a possible 94 regular-season games -- and coach Mike McCarthy indicated earlier in the week that given Collins' history, he thought there was a good chance he would play. Only three players missed practice completely: LB Frank Zombo (knee), guard Marshall Newhouse (back) and defensive end Cullen Jenkins (calf). Zombo had a uniform and watched the jog-through portion with a play sheet in his hand but then went to rehab once the rest of the practiced commenced. We'll have the complete injury report and comments from coach Mike McCarthy following practice at about 12:15 p.m. Here's the full injury report: Diyral Briggs, LB Ankle Limited Participation Questionable Chad Clifton, T Knees Limited Participation Probable Nick Collins, S Ribs Limited Participation Questionable Cullen Jenkins, DE Calf Out Pat Lee, CB Ankle Full Participation Probable Clay Matthews, LB Shin Limited Participation Probable Marshall Newhouse, G Back Did Not Participate Out Ryan Pickett, DE Ankle Full Participation Probable Aaron Rodgers, QB Concussion Full Participation Probable Erik Walden, LB Quadricep Limited Participation Questionable Scott Wells, C Back Limited Participation Probable Charles Woodson, CB Toe Full Participation Probable Frank Zombo, LB Knee Limited Doubtful MM: "Frank Zombo tried to go today, that didn't work out very well. Walden looked positive, see how he feels in the morning. Briggs' durability is a concern, too. Those answers will go all the way up to game time. (Francois) has worked inside and outside." Roster move: "That's an option." Juggle Christmas and work: "Spend more time with the players today to give them the ability to be with their families tonight more and tomorrow morning more. Prep time is the same, we moved around (things) because of the holiday." Still optimistich about Collins' chances: "Yes I am. Nick had a minor setback today, but just knowing Nick and his history, I anticipate him to play. ... Nick has played through a lot." -- Rob Demovsky, rdemovsk@greenbaypressgazette.com http://twitter.com/RobDemovsky
