Packers' 2011 opponents nearly set

All but one of the Green Bay Packers' opponents for next season are set in stone. In addition to their six division games, the Packers will play the AFC West and the NFC South next season. Of the two intraconference games based on the Packers' second-place finish in the NFC North, one is set -- a road game at the New York Giants, the second-place team in the NFC East. The only one that isn't finalized is a game against the second-place team in the NFC West because any one of three teams -- St. Louis, Seattle and San Francisco -- could finish second in that division. Here's how the schedule breaks down: HOME Chicago Detroit Minnesota New Orleans Tampa Bay Denver Oakland NFC West second-place team AWAY Chicago Detroit Minnesota Atlanta Carolina Kansas City San Diego New York Giants By the rotation, the Packers were actually supposed to play at San Diego and have Kansas City at home, but the NFL separated Oakland and San Diego, so that teams playing the AFC West don't have two long flights to California in the same season. In 2003, the Packers had back-t0-back West coast trips when they played at San Diego and at Oakland in consecutive weeks. -- Rob Demovsky, rdemovsk@greenbaypressgazette.com http://twitter.com/RobDemovsky
