Ben Jones joined Gannett Wisconsin Media Investigative Team in January 2012 after spending a decade covering state politics and government as the Post-Crescent's Madison bureau chief. He also has served as a correspondent for USA Today since 2006. Jones has received state and national recognition for his reporting, including first place awards from the Association of Capitol Reporters and Editors in 2007, 2009 and 2010; the American Legion's 2006 Fourth Estate Award; honorable mention for a Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism in 2007 and a first-place Wisconsin Newspaper Association award for Environmental Reporting in 2012. Jones specializes in government reporting, public records and database reporting. He is a Wisconsin native and has degrees in journalism and English from of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
