Doug Schneider covers Brown County for Press-Gazette Media of Green Bay, where he has worked since 2010. Earlier, he worked for the Press & Sun-Bulletin of Binghamton, N.Y., as a public-safety reporter, government reporter, metro editor and public service editor. In Binghamton, he created the newspaperís Watchdog Team and won reporting awards from the Syracuse (N.Y.) Press Club for best investigative story, best spot-news story (twice), best news feature series, best sports story and best blog. He was part of the reporting team that won the Associated Pressí top award for breaking news coverage for a mass shooting in 2009, and for a catastrophic flood in 2006. In 2001, he won the APís top award for sports reporting.

Before coming to Binghamton, Schneider covered government, schools and public safety as the senior staff writer at the (Oswego, N.Y.) Palladium-Times. There, he received the New York Newspaper Publishers' Associationís top awards for breaking news coverage, state government coverage, feature writing and business reporting.

Schneider was raised in LaGrange Park, Ill., and has a bachelorís degree in newspaper journalism from Syracuse University.
