Jeremy Ross got only one real shot at a kickoff return in Saturday's playoff win over the Minnesota Vikings, and he returned it for 28 yards. But if he remains in that job for the Green Bay Packers, he could get a few more opportunities in the divisional playoff game at San Francisco.

The 49ers ranked 31st out of 32 teams in the NFL in kickoff coverage, allowing 26.9 yards per return, and ranked 17th in the league in touchback percentage (45.5 percent).

The Packers don't want to be in a position in which they are returning a lot of kickoffs because it would mean the 49ers would have scored. But if they are ...
