Packers select QB Brohm 56th overall

Aaron Rodgers has his backup. At least one of them.

The Packers selected Louisville quarterback Brian Brohm with the 56th overall pick.

Brohm had been projected as a first-round lock last year, but he returned to school for another season and nearly slid all the way through Round 2. Some projected the Packers would take Brohm, 6-foot-3 and 227 pounds, at No. 30.

"I don't regret it," Brohm said of staying in school. "It's a decision that I made kind of with my heart. ... I felt like I got better as a player, felt like I matured as a player."

Last season, Brohm completed 308 of 473 passes for 4,024 yards and 30 touchdowns with 12 interceptions. In 44 career games (33 starts), Brohm was 780-of-1,185 fo 10,775 yards with 71 touchdowns and 24 interceptions.

After 8 and no comments yet? I guess the TT bashers can't believe we got Brohm and a good CB prospect--as well as the guy who might turn out to be the best WR of this draft.

I just don't see Jordy Nelson being the best WR in the draft. He may be a good WR, but so is James Jones, Koren Robinson. I think we could have added depth at places we needed it more...LB, O-Line, safety...

I lived in Louisville for 3 years and was able to follow Brian Brohm all of those 3 years. He is a great kid and comes from a great family. He is very fan friendly, I hope he stays that way. You guys up there in WI be easy on him. Within time, he is sure to grow on you.
