Harrell out again

Former first-round draft pick Justin Harrell apparently will have the same role during organized team activity (OTA) practices this year that he did as a rookie -- watching from the sideline.

According to the Packers' Web site, Harrell (back), fellow defensive tackle Johnny Jolly (shoulder) and cornerback Will Blackmon (foot) have been ruled out for all of OTAs because of injuries, though all three "should be cleared for the start of training camp."

Jolly and Blackmon, whose injury is recurring, were hurt last season. Harrell did not have a known back injury last season, though he did battle ankle and knee problems. He wasn't cleared for contact in 2007 until training camp -- a precaution because of his recovery from the ruptured biceps tendon that ended his senior season at the University of Tennessee.

Defensive tackles Daniel Muir (pectoral muscle) and Colin Cole (forearm), linebacker Abdul Hodge (knees), fullback John Kuhn (groin), offensive lineman Cameron Stephenson (calf), tight end Tory Humphrey (ankle) and defensive end Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila (knee) are not participating in the start of OTAs but could be back before the four-week session concludes, according to the site.

Running backs Noah Herron (knee) and DeShawn Wynn (shoulder), fullback Ryan Powdrell (knee), offensive lineman Junius Coston (calf) and safety Tyrone Culver (shoulder) have been cleared, the site says. They finished last season on injured reserve.

* The Houston Texans have signed TE Ryan Krause, who spent most of last season with the Packers.
