McCarthy speaks
Packers coach Mike McCarthy addressed several issues during a roughly 10-minute press conference after practice today.
* On retired QB Brett Favre's locker, which still has a nameplate over it: "We've got some special plans for that." He did not discuss specifics.
* On rookie QBs Brian Brohm and Matt Flynn: "Their huddle command was very good, they were very coachable and all the rest of those things that they need to learn will come."
* On whether he'd feel comfortable with those two as Aaron Rodgers' backups: "There's a good opportunity that would happen. We have a lot of work to do."
* On Wisconsin-Whitewater running back Justin Beaver, who is trying out: "Quick as a hiccup, as advertised." In the same breath, McCarthy noted that with an 80-man roster limit, some good players won't be offered contracts.
* On top draft pick Jordy Nelson: "I like the way he moves. He did a good job on the 'go' route and looked like an accomplished route runner."

I would be curious to see Justin Beaver as a kickoff returner. He certainly has the speed.
