McCarthy speaks
Here's what coach Mike McCarthy is saying after practice ...
* For the sake of consistency, the Packers will practice indoors until training camp.
* DT Justin Harrell had minor back surgery. It that showed up early in offseason. McCarthy is concerned with all the injuries on the defensive line. He anticipates taking 13 defensive linemen to training camp. DT Daniel Muir (pec) probably could be back in a week or so.
* The team is in communication with cornerbacks Charles Woodson and Al Harris, who are not participating in OTAs. Their absence isn't a concern, given the stage of their careers.
* QB Aaron Rodgers has put together two nice days of OTAs.
* On G Allen Barbre with the first team: "Allen is in competition for one of the inside spots, and just really like we have the last two years, we'll continue to play different combinations of players there." Daryn Colledge could play every position on the line. Junius Coston will get more work at center.
* On Ryan Grant sitting out: He's out because of his contract situation. "That's a business process that the organization and Ryan are working through, and I think he's handling it very well."
* Grant has been lifting here four days a week and meeting with RBs coach Edgar Bennett.
* On Brian Brohm: There was some roughness today, but McCarthy likes how he picks things up. "He is a sponge. He's a quick thinker. ... I think he's a good fit for our volume and what we ask our quartebracks to do."
* McCarthy indicated the team will stick with three QBs for training camp, rather than adding a veteran. "Our workload is less than it was last year.”
* Harrell had surgery in early April. The injury was brought on by weightlifting. "We just felt it would be best to do the surgery now so he'll be ready."
