Texans cut QB Gray

If the Packers have any lingering interest in quarterback Quinn Gray, they have another chance to land him.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the Houston Texans have cut Gray, a little more than two months after signing him to a one-year, $645,000 contract. The Chronicle said the move was related to Gray's slow adjustment to the system.

Gray, 29, visited the Packers on March 11. The team also brought in veterans Gus Frerotte, who ended up with Minnesota, and Daunte Culpepper but didn't sign either.

Since the team drafted Brian Brohm and Matt Flynn, Packers coach Mike McCarthy has said he's prepared to go into training camp with the two rookies backing up new starter Aaron Rodgers. It seems unlikely that would change with Gray's release, but if McCarthy likes his skill set, it's not out of the question the team might reconsider signing him to a minimum-salary deal.
