FINAL: Bengals 20, Packers 17
GAME OVER
Matt Flynn had the Packers on their way before Kregg Lumpkin’s fumble ended this one with 48 seconds to play. Flynn finishes 11-for-20 for 88 yards and a touchdown. So, this one will go down as a loss. But as everyone knows, what really matters is what the score was with all the starters on the field, and the Packers won that battle.
That’s it for the Blog tonight. Check the packersnews.com homepage for further updates.

The Packers failed to recover the onside kick, but the third-team defense stood tall, giving the home team one more chance. And Johnny Quinn almost blocked the punt, too. If Matt Flynn delivers a winning drive, the calls will begin for him to get a chance to move past Brian Brohm on the depth chart.

It was against a third-team defense, but give Matt Flynn credit for engineering an impressive no-huddle drive. The rookie seventh-round draft pick took the Packers 62 yards in 12 plays and threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Kregg Lumpkin to keep this one alive.

Mike McCarthy ignored fans’ calls for the Packers to go for it on fourth-and-1 from their own 41. It would be a close call in a regular-season game with a 10-point deficit, but the preseason opener isn’t a time to do whatever it takes to win. The way Jon Ryan has been going, he needs all the work he can get.
10:45: Bengals 20, Packers 10
Shayne Graham’s second field goal, from 32 yards, extended Cincy’s lead and snapped a long, yawnworthy scoring drought for both teams.
12:19
Defensive tackle Alfred Malone, one of the stars of training camp, was flagged for a personal foul after delivering a blow to the head of quarterback Jeff Rowe. That makes six penalties for 65 yards against the Packers.
14:55
Jon Ryan uncorked a 14-yard punt to go with the 15-yarder he had in the first half. The first was a botched directional kick, but the second was a straight miss. Again … ugly.

Are you serious?
Did you seriously title it that they lost "under Aaron Rodgers?"
I'm pretty sure last year the Packers
Cause a little more trouble why don't you?

I am sorry you can't handle the truth? How would you have put it? Any way you say it Rodgers lost. But on the bright side he did not get hurt despite being knocked to the ground three times.

He left and the score was 10 - 0. At the worst he gets a no decision.

It was only 1 quarter of the 1st PREseason game.
You cannot tell how anyone is going to perform in a handful of series. He had his positive moments ( nice pass=td) and his negatives (sacked twice/overthrown passes).
Overall, I think he did exactly as expected. I wasn't as excited as I've been in the past 16 seasons when I saw a TD last night. Did I still cheer for the Packers? Of course. Will I cheer for Favre? Absolutely. They are not in our division and we do not have a chance to play against them unless we are both in the Superbowl. If that should happen, then I would cheer for the Packers.
But you people who somehow feel that unless we ONLY cheer for the Packers we are traitors and Favre fans. Why can a person NOT be a fan of two different teams? Especially two different teams who have nothing to do with the other?
It is not as though we are cheering for another NFC North team, or even another NFC team. The Jets and the Packers are giving us the opportunity of a lifetime. The opportunity to watch and cheer for 2 teams that cannot harm the others chances of going to the Superbowl.
Enjoy the ride and stop the bickering already.
