The morning, er, afternoon after

A few quick notes a day after the Packers' preseason opener ...

* In case you need a little direction, check out the following from our coverage of Monday's loss to Cincinnati -- Pete Dougherty's take on Aaron Rodgers' start, Mike Vandermause's column on Rodgers, the Insider and the notebook.

* Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports (via ProFootballTalk.com) has a story in which Vikings defensive tackle Pat Williams says, among other things, that "Brett Favre just knows where his guys are going to be at all times, and I don’t think Aaron Rodgers has got that yet." Interpret the preseason gum-flapping as you will.

* Any leftover questions about Monday's game? Submit them for the Podcast. We'll have another episode posted tonight.

* The Packers return to the practice field for a padded session at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, then game plan in shells at 10:45 a.m. Thursday -- and that's it for public practice before Saturday's game at San Francisco.

It was only 1 quarter of the 1st PREseason game.

You cannot tell how anyone is going to perform in a handful of series. He had his positive moments ( nice pass=td) and his negatives (sacked twice/overthrown passes).

Overall, I think he did exactly as expected. I wasn't as excited as I've been in the past 16 seasons when I saw a TD last night. Did I still cheer for the Packers? Of course. Will I cheer for Favre? Absolutely. They are not in our division and we do not have a chance to play against them unless we are both in the Superbowl. If that should happen, then I would cheer for the Packers.

But you people who somehow feel that unless we ONLY cheer for the Packers we are traitors and Favre fans. Why can a person NOT be a fan of two different teams? Especially two different teams who have nothing to do with the other?

It is not as though we are cheering for another NFC North team, or even another NFC team. The Jets and the Packers are giving us the opportunity of a lifetime. The opportunity to watch and cheer for 2 teams that cannot harm the others chances of going to the Superbowl.

Enjoy the ride and stop the bickering already.
