Last evening practice ends

8:40 p.m.

Practice wrapped up in a surprisingly tidy 1 hour, 54 minutes. It was one of the shortest night practices of training camp.

C Scott Wells sustained the same trunk injury he’s been dealing with on the other side of his back and is undergoing tests.

LB A.J. Hawk is week-to-week with his chest injury and probably won’t play Friday at Denver.

The status of RB Ryan Grant and DE Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila remains up in the air. Both suited up for practice but didn’t do much.

TE Evan Moore, who was injured in the fourth quarter of Saturday night's loss in San Francisco, has a bruised knee ligament and will miss a few weeks.

DT Daniel Muir has a groin injury.

8:15 p.m.

K Mason Crosby drilled five of five field goals, although it appeared the defensive lines were going at half speed. Nevertheless, Crosby made two kicks from 20 yards and three more from 25 yards. P Jon Ryan was holding on the first three kicks, while WR Ruvell Martin held on the last two.

RB Vernand Morency got a little chippy after a play during team drills. It appeared Morency threw a punch at an unidentified defensive player before the scuffle was broken up.

8:10 p.m.

Aaron Kampman can do it all. Not only is he a premier pass rusher and Pro Bowl defensive end, but he also can pick off passes. Kmapman intercepted a Brian Brohm pass intended for TE Joey Haynos. LBs Nick Barnett and Brady Poppinga were blitzing on the play and Brohm appeared a bit flustered in his haste to get rid of the ball. Kampman was there with waiting arms.

Brohm almost had another interception when S Aaron Rouse got his hands on one of his passes but couldn’t hang on. Rouse came back to intercept a pass from QB Matt Flynn, although the blame squarely fell on WR Jake Allen, who let the pass slip through his fingers.

The brisk wind at practice tonight could be affecting the accuracy of Brohm and the other QBs.

There’s a lot of shuffling on the offensive line due to the absence of C Scott Wells and LT Chad Clifton. Tony Moll has been lining up at LT, Daryn Colledge at LG, Jason Spitz at C, rookie Josh Sitton at RG and Mark Tauscher at RT. Colledge also was shifted to LT, at which point Allen Barbre was inserted as the LG.

Jarrett Bush had a brutal night in coverage against San Francisco 49ers on Saturday night, but it appears he is still lining up as the No. 4 CB.

Team President Mark Murphy has been a frequent observer at training camp. He is on the sideline again tonight. For what it's worth, former team president Bob Harlan rarely visited training camp practices. Packers chief negotiator Russ Ball also has made frequent appearances at practice, something former negotiator Andrew Brandt didn’t do regularly.

7:33 p.m.

Former Packers General Manager Ron Wolf is making his first appearance at training camp, talking to GM Ted Thompson along the sideline. Wolf visits camp every summer at Thompson’s invitation. Thompson served under Wolf in the Packers’ front office in the 1990s.

Wolf is planning to move back to the Green Bay area as soon as his home in Annapolis, Md., sells. He will spend the summer months in Wisconsin and is expected to maintain his winter home in Florida.

Wolf has declined to comment on the Packers' handling of the Brett Favre situation because he knows both parties so well.

7:31 p.m.

Upon further review, defensive linemen Cullen Jenkins, Colin Cole and Johnny Jolly are wearing shorts over their football pants. They are practicing.

7:22 p.m.

QB Aaron Rodgers is wearing a black wrap around his left knee. There’s no reason to believe it’s anything serious because Rodgers is taking part in all of the walkthrough drills and was seen hopping up and down and pumping his legs on the sideline. That said, Rodgers hasn't worn such a wrap at practice during the last month.

A cold front has moved into the Green Bay area, making this the coolest day of training camp to date. at 7 p.m., it was 74 with with northeast winds of 18 mph gusting to 29 mph. It has cooled off from a daytime high of 89.

There are a few hundred fans in attendance at tonight’s practice, one of the smallest gatherings of camp.

7:01 p.m.

WR Greg Jennings and DE Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila are back on the practice field for the first time in a week.

Also practicing are LB Nick Barnett, who pulled imself from Saturday’s game, and LB Desmond Bishop, who didn’t play Saturday. RB Ryan Grant again is in pads, but doesn’t appear to be doing anything.

But there are a whole lot of players not practicing, including C Scott Wells, DT Ryan Pickett, CB Al Harris, DT Johnny Jolly, LB A.J. Hawk, DT Cullen Jenkins and LT Chad Clifton.

Also out are RB DeShawn Wynn, S Charlie Peprah, DT Justin Harrell, DT Daniel Muir, DT Colin Cole, TE Evan Moore and CB Joe Porter.

As expected, there are no changes to the starting offensive line, although Jason Spitz is working at center with Wells out and Tony Moll is in Clifton’s spot at LT. Josh Sitton and Daryn College are at RG and LG, respectively.

It’s a cool, cloudy night at Clarke Hinkle Field. Practice is expected to run close to 2.5 hours, or to about 9 p.m.

Packer fans should be furious over what Thompson and McCarthy did to ruin this 2007-08 NFC Finalist's team.

I hope it rains buckets to cool off that explosive offense. Perhaps they were just not in the right "mindset"

Practice, we don't need no stinkin' practice! Our train is running full steam ahead!

Ted, Mike and Mark

Aaaaaaaaaugh!
Enough! I am tired of reading tired comments by impatient, self-centered, mean-spirited,homophobic people. I can't imagine the pain of living/working with people like you who spend your time complaining. Can you do anything about what has happened? No.
Will your complaining change it? No. Do you seek to make yourselves feel bette by making others feel bad (comments about McCarthy's weight, Thompson's sexuality, "dumocrats")? Seems like it. There is a reason I left Wisconsin, and it is more clear to me the more I read the comments from the scum that post idiotic comments. Remember: no matter how thin, the crepe always has two sides. Blame the Packers if you will, but it is OVER. MOVE ON. This is now, not then. Then is gone, and has been for at least a second. It's in the rearview mirror. It is not coming back. You may want to live there, to dwell there (cue Glory Days by Bruce Springsteen), but you can't unless you have a magic time machine or a video cassette of Super Bowl 31 and a case of Blatz. Grow up, move on.
Aaaaaaaagh!

We are homophobes just because we criticize the stupid actions of TT? Wow.... missed that connection. Maybe you know something we all don't... hmmmmmm.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 5:47 PM

If you read back through the blogs over the past month, and in the past week in particular, youwill have no trouble fiding exactly what I'm writing about. How about the references to Nancy, and the photo of Rodgers with lipstick. What is that? Is it the ultimate insult in a manly game to attack someone's sexuality or perceived, and I do mean precisely that because there is not a large enough body of work on Rodgers to make a determination about his durability (looking back at a 4-sack night Saturday, he didn't break in half, did he?). There are plenty of women who are plenty tough (is this where someone throws in a dyke joke so we can all snicker like junior high kids?).
The level of discourse here is in the gutter. Express yourself, but why do it at someone else's expense.
That's all I'm saying.
Oh, and you're implying that I would know about Ted because...
I get it. My, you are a clever one. Your mom would be so proud. Like I wrote, junior high. Grow up.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 6:26 PM

You seem to be the only one getting all 'hot' and bothered.
.....hmmmmmmmm.....

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 6:33 PM

not that there is anything wrong with that....

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 6:35 PM

Not hot and bothered (again, junior high reference - god, you're a hoot! Who do you have for homeroom?). Just hoping and wishing for more intelligence. Got any? Show it if you do, because right now, not so good.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 6:49 PM

It has been really frustrating to watch people react so irrationally over the past week because of a PRESEASON GAME. I just keep telling myself their Vikings fans.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 6:56 PM

I'm not please that BF is now a Jet and I point the finger at TT, and to some degree MM, but the poster is right, the blogs have been over the top. It has become a r-rated blog that leaves little too the imagination. I hope MM and AR can get their act together here fast. I want GB to do well, but it is sad when you know that BF didn't get on the train because they wouldn't except his ticket. Thaat in itself opens up TT & MM to critism, but keep the r-rated smut out.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 6:56 PM

Yes! Over the top is a great way to put it. No one who has been a Brett fan or Packer fan is happy with this. There is plenty of criticism to go around, but level it in a way that leaves the personalities out of it. Judgment is fair to criticize and disagree with. And free speech is a pillar of this nation. But there is a line at which decency is left behind.
Thanks for the last few posts.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 7:42 PM

That giant sucking sound is fans leaving the Green Bay Bandwagon. Rumor has it that the NY Jets are setting practice attendance records.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 7:47 PM

How about the way the greatest player in Packer history was treated... did you have any problem with that? Or is it just Teddy's feelings you are concerned about??? I believe most people aren't as upset that BF is gone as they are about the way he was treated.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 7:47 PM

Agree, to have the nation see them literally run Brett out of town was sickening and a much worse thing to witness than the reading of a few goofy comments on an obscure blog.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 7:54 PM

Don't you think Brett has some responsibility in the break up? If he holds off on making his retirement announcement, or comes back before July, then it's a non issue. He's the starting QB for the Packers. Certainly he has some fault in all of this.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 8:04 PM

We can complain and argue all we want, but Favre is gone. Fans can either cheer for the Packers and hope for the best, or jump off the bandwagon. Not a lot of other options.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 8:07 PM

He has plenty of fault in it, just like management does.

Had he not retired in the first place we wouldn't have this problem.

And who's to say if Brett did become the starter again that the team would succeed? It would be a completely different scenario with a team split between two leaders.

And I love how people who actually might agree with TT are automatically accused of loving him.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 8:13 PM

Favre clearly has a lot of responsibility for creating the situation. BUT, did he deserve to be publicly treated like a t*rd? I think not. It should have been addressed face to face behind closed doors at the end of JUNE.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 8:17 PM

Split between two leaders?? You're kidding, right?

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 8:20 PM

I don't think he's kidding. Did you pay attention to the media at all? There were already problems. Most of the younger players (meaning, a large portion of the team) really didn't care that he was gone. Only a few veterans even acknowledged the idea that they might want him back. It would have been worse off that way at least within the locker room.

Favre should have been treated better, but he brought it on himself after the way he acted the past three offseasons.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 8:33 PM

Are homosexual relationships behind the Favre ouster? That could actually explain the insanity (as much as it ever could be explained).

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 8:52 PM

Seems to be a touchy subject...

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 8:55 PM

Rodgers is the golden 'boytoy' of TT.

That being said, the Packer Management made their bed and must now lie in it.

Sadly it will be a very long and sad season for them.

Rodgers wearing a wrap on his knee...he truly does need to MAN UP. I suspect he will be out for the season after the Vikings game.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 9:07 PM

This team is soooooooooo doomed......Halloween is going to be here early this year, and last a long time.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 9:11 PM

Because his knee is wrapped, you've come to the conclusion that he will be out for the season?

Yeah. That makes sense, professor.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 9:12 PM

In Rodgers first three seasons he had two injuries that had him sidelined. It does not take a Rocket Scientist to make a connection. All it takes is a TV and ESPN. The commentators talk about Rodgers durability.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 9:18 PM

This site might have the lowest average IQ of any site I've seen

Were you saying Rodgers would suck when Favre retired? What are you going to do when Favre reverts back to 06 form and Rodgers does great? And why should we listen to everything that diva asks for on bended knee?

As for Rodger's "durability issues", its a nonissue. One was a freak accident where a O-linemen stepped on his leg, and he actually played through it. The other was a pulled hammy where he could have played, but they didn't want to risk their future investment

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 9:49 PM

Ever notice nothing is ever Rodgers fault. Dropped passes, sacks and injuries are all the responsibility of someone else. For the last 16 years we have had a quarterback that played no matter what! The Packers were doomed to suck whether Favre stayed retired or not. No one but you Ted, Mike and Mark think Rodgers is the end game. As far as junior high mentality go look in the mirror dude! Rodgers was sacked 6 times in 3 quarters of play, Favre 15 times all last season. Yes Rodgers 6 sacks were in preseason but there is every indication this is the way things will be! Sorry if you can't handle the truth!

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 18, 2008 10:06 PM

To the poster who is crying foul about the negative posts, I say this: You have the power to *gasp* NOT READ THIS BLOG. WoW. There is a concept for you. You have nothing of value to offer on here, other than complain and b$tch about some comments made by others.

It's real simple. If you do not like what you read, then do not click the comments button and begin reading. I would dare to suggest that AR,TT or MM rarely read these posts, nor do they care.

So get over yourself and let those who wish to vent their frustrations do so. However juvenile they may seem. Free speech and all that. Unless someone is holding a gun to your head, forcing you to ready through the posts that hurt you, you are making your own choice to do so.

That said...I think that we are being handed a rare opportunity this season. We have two teams to watch and cheer for. Our Packers and the Jets who are fortunate enough to have Favre. Cheering for both teams will do no harm, as they will never face each other. One will never beat the other out of a shot at the SuperBowl. There is no harm, no foul in wanting both teams ( both QB's) to do well this season. So back off the "having to choose sides" and claiming to be either a Favre Fan or Packer Fan. Can we not be both?

My cheering for the Jets (Favre) to do well will have absolutely no bearing whatsoever on how the Packers do.

Mr. Junior High? Grow up, realize people are always going to have their opinions. You think you are taking the high road by wagging your finger at us, but really..are you any better?

I can't wait to watch both teams play and do well. Two teams to watch...One to beat the Patriots & Giants and the other to beat the Bears and Vikings.

Relax and enjoy the ride that these two teams are going to give football fans.

Brett Farve interview on ESPN 1050Great guy he always was spoke highly of the Packer players and greatful for the years he played in Green Bay and is ready for the challange because he wants to play. This is all about what he wanted and he will be loyal to whoever he plays for that is the kind of guy he is. Sad to say that you never miss a good thing until its gone The man left a hard path to follow> I got so angry when I heard so called Packer fans calling Brett a diva and a whiner when he is far from that he is a quarterback of stanima and stregth that is amazing. He is working hard to bring the magic to the jets he brought to Green Bay I hope he does and I will be waving him on. I guess that is known as loyalty to the man who gave Green Bay his best years only to be cast off like a washed up quarterback, but remember Packer fans TT said AR is the one, time will tell but it sure don't look good!

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 19, 2008 4:02 AM

"Blame the Packers if you will, but it is OVER. MOVE ON. This is now, not then. "

Yes , but this NOW may last 20 bad years like it did until Favre arrived. Thompson and McCarthey will be hung in effigy by enraged fans before the year is out.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 19, 2008 7:05 AM

It doesn't take a rocket scientist either to know that QB is the most important position in any team sport and you can count on one hand the amount of top NFL QBs in the league at any one period of time. And when your QB leads you to within an overtime FG of reaching the Super Bowl , like they say, "if it ain't broke don't fix it."

Thompson put his own neck on the line making this absurd move. If it all turns out the way everyone thinksit logically will - Thompson will never again be a GM in this league and a laughing stock for the next 20 years.

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 19, 2008 7:13 AM

Judging Thompson AND McCarthy will be easy this year. If the train is truly moving forward- at least 13-3 and the NFC Championship game. Anything less and they have fallen far short of their job, while embarrassing the community in front of the entire nation.!

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 19, 2008 9:39 AM

to the poster saying QB is the most important position, while i do not at all disagree with you, i do have my two cents. QB like the offensive player award, which is a game breaker and the man who has the ball in his hands and leads the team. but the MVP is the two D tackles, and usually the left tackle on offense. this being, if you have 2 solid d tackles to take up blockers and rush the qb up the middle, that frees up space for the linebackers, causing better blitzes, and less time for the qb. as for the left tackle on the oline, thats simple, he protects the qbs backside. so in reality, to build a strong team, one has to have those 3 positions along with a great qb, and NOT just a qb

By Anonymous Anonymous, At August 19, 2008 12:20 PM

Now children, stop that bickering or I'll give you something to cry about!! Don't you give me that look!! You just wait til your father gets home!!!
