Packers' O-line taking shape

The Packers' offensive line might not be in as much flux as the team is making it appear.

First off, center Scott Wells isn't hurt. He missed today's practice because his wife gave birth the night before.

Secondly, the other center, Jason Spitz, had a second opinion on his lower-back injury and said he came away from that encouraged.

Then, there was this from quarterback Aaron Rodgers, when he was asked about the uncertainty up front.

"We probably have a better idea than we’re leading on," Rodgers said.

One thing is certain, the Packers seem to be inclined to go with the guys who have practiced. That could mean it will be T.J. Lang over Chad Clifton at left tackle. Clifton isn't expected to even try to practice full go until Friday.

That would mean the Packers would have a rookie going against Vikings defensive end Jared Allen, who had 4 1/2 sacks against the Packers in the first meeting.

When asked whether he'd be licking his chops going against a rookie who has made only one start, Allen said: "If I was licking my chops over a dude, I’d be scared of myself. I'm going to prepare as if Clifton’s there. I'm going to prepare for both of them. We’ll see how salivated I am come Sunday."

Whenever I here "lower back injury" I get very worried about a guys career.

I hope he's OK, but a back injury is a bad, bad thing in football. Alot of players, never recover once they start having back problems.

I'm starting to get worried about Spitz. Offensive linemen but alot of strain on their backs.

After this Sunday when Lang does a great job against Allen,Clifton will be finished.I think his career as a Packer will be over. Thanks but time to move on.
