The Packers made it official this afternoon: They have placed outside linebacker Nick Perry on season-ending injured reserve and used his roster spot to activate tight end Andrew Quarless off the physically unable to perform list.

As we noted earlier -- http://bitly.com/U9Ltvo -- a source said Perry, the Packers' first-round draft pick in April, had surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., to repair ligament damage in his left wrist.

Quarless hasn't played since his knee injury against the New York Giants on Dec. 4, 2011.

With Quarless, the Packers now have five tight ends on their roster. Last year, they opened the season with five tight ends on the roster.
