I am the life enrichment director of a senior assisted living facility in West Allis. On Monday June 17, our driver and I took a group of 10 residents up to spend a day in Manitowoc.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who was there to help us after a car accident we were involved in on June 13. The rescue squad, namely Kevin and Michael, were so efficient and extremely kind. It takes special people to do that work, and they were that.
I read with interest the Our View editorial in the Wednesday edition of the HTR. While I do agree with all the points made in the editorial, I do have a problem with another issue dealing with alcohol.
After reading the editorial entitled 'Keep journalism center funding intact,' I am put off by two items primarily. My first concern is the following statements.
One of the most talented athletes to ever come out of Manitowc passed into the arms of the Lord Monday morning. Paul Meany may have been the greatest basketball player to graduate from Lincoln High, where he set many scoring records.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered for Thunder on the Lakeshore. So many organizations participate and each brings volunteers.
On May 12, an interesting article appeared in a number of major papers in Wisconsin.
After months of campaigning, the United Council of UW Students won 181,000 students an unprecedented two-year tuition freeze.
This is in response to a letter in the June 8 HTR, headlined 'Freewill donation?'
So, superintendents Swanson and Fredrikson '
Really, more road block sobriety checks? I hought you were free to travel in this country unrestricted, that you were innocent until proof of guilt or you commit a reason to be stopped by law enforcement.
I would like to compliment the people at the Manitowoc Senior Center for the variety show they put on Sunday afternoon. It was well done and very entertaining. The only downfall was I was made to donate before I was able to go in.
On behalf of the Turtle Ridge Athletic Association Inc, a non-profit organization established for the sole purpose of providing college scholarships to graduates of Two Rivers High School, I would like to thank the participants and the many sponsors of the 2013 Turtle Ridge Snapper Open, which was held June 1 at Autumn Ridge Golf Course.
The letter published on June 5, by John Goswitz, is wrong. Gov. Walker is not doing Wisconsin any favors. He is taking us backwards, not forward.
