MADISON — Retired Green Bay Packers offensive tackle Mark Tauscher is part of a group that has purchased Isthmus, Madison's weekly free alternative newspaper.
Tauscher, Jeff Haupt and Craig Bartlett acquired Isthmus Publishing Co. from publisher Vince O'Hern, the Wisconsin State Journal reported Thursday. Company ownership was transferred on Wednesday. The sale terms were not released.
The 38-year-old Isthmus publishes a weekly print edition as well as The Daily Page online site.
Tauscher played for the University of Wisconsin and was drafted by the Packers in 2000, playing for Green Bay for 10 years. He does color commentary on Badgers and Packers radio broadcasts.
Haupt and Bartlett both have ties with The Onion, the nationally known satire website that originated in Madison as a printed tabloid.
