Kohl delivers farewell speech to Senate colleagues

WASHINGTON (AP) - Herb Kohl has given his final speech from the floor of the U.S. Senate after representing Wisconsin in the chamber for 24 years.

Kohl, who is retiring when his term ends Jan. 2, used his brief farewell remarks to remember late colleagues, praise current lawmakers and thank the people of Wisconsin for electing him four times.

"Thank you for letting me pay back in part the great debt my family owes to the state that took in my immigrant mother and father," he said. "? Thank you for taking a chance on me in that first election 24 years ago and renewing my contract three more times." ...
