MILWAUKEE — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has confirmed Waukesha County's second deer to test positive for chronic wasting disease.

Tests confirm a 3 1/2-year-old buck killed March 3 in Wales had the brain disease. It was observed wandering in a stupor. A law enforcement officer dispatched the animal.

It was the second CWD-positive deer found in Waukesha County this year. A doe, 9 to 12 years old, was found dead Jan. 3 in the Town of Delafield. It subsequently tested positive.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports (http://bit.ly/12np3wN ) the two findings represent the first CWD-positive deer in the county in 11 years of testing.

The Town of Delafield finding caused a ban on baiting and feeding deer in adjacent Washington County. The practices had already been prohibited in Waukesha County.
